Healing Guitar - Solfeggio Frequencies for Body and Mind -
Stevin McNamara Uses Centuries-Old Tonalities for Extraordinary Chakra Balancing

With his latest work, Healing Guitar - Solfeggio Frequencies for Body and Mind, guitarist and composer Stevin McNamara has created a suite of spacious, deeply contemplative new soundscapes rooted in the effects of various Hz sound frequencies on body, mind, and spirit. Using the ancient Solfeggio frequencies, he says “Each piece on the album was composed by first creating a bed of sound – using acoustic instruments tuned to a particular Solfeggio frequency and its harmonics – for each chakra energy center in the body. I immersed myself in these healing beds for some time, and then musical compositions and melodies emerged from the deep healing feelings.”
In the eleventh century, a Benedictine monk named Guido d’Arezzo introduced the musical scale now known as the Solfeggio frequencies, and the six original Solfeggio notes were used in composing Gregorian chants – which we now know to consist of the frequencies 396, 417, 528, 639, 741, and 852Hz, But the history of these tones, or frequencies, goes back much farther than medieval Europe. Sound healing has been successfully used over several millennia. As far back as the Vedic era in India – 5,000 years ago – it was employed by Yogis for many healing modalities. They discovered that certain frequencies or notes, as well as certain colors, had profoundly powerful healing effects on the chakras, or spiritual energy centers, of the human body and on a person’s general sense of well-being.. With the human voice as their original physical musical source, they composed healing chants for this purpose, and the Raga musical system of North India was built on the same principles. Today, once again, sound healing has re-emerged and is finding new adherents. McNamara comments, “For me there appeared an unmistakable connection and thread between the ancient Indian music and the Gregorian era of Italy right through to the present time. What was then is still very much now.”

Recorded at Crystal Mountain Studio in Ashland, Oregon, the album includes only organic sounds and acoustic instruments in its production – no synthesizers, other effects nor any AI were used. McNamara played nylon string guitar, 12-string guitar, guitar harmonics, and tamboura. A Tibetan singing bell and white crystal singing bowls were also recorded, both at The exact freuency fir each chakra.Below are the respective attributes of the various Solfeggio frequencies that form the basis for each song on the album – frequencies believed to promote healing, relaxation and balance, ideal for use in sound therapy or meditation practices:
